2023 was a big year for us here at McCray’s Handyman, Inc. and we are so excited to see where 2024 takes us!
Some of you may recall that in 2022 we were very limited asto the size of job we could take on. This is because “handymen” in the state ofCalifornia, cannot do any part of a job that exceeds $500. This was extremelylimiting and we noticed many of our customer were frustrated trying to findsomeone licensed and reliable to complete their jobs. Many of them were movedforward using unlicensed contractors in order to get their work done in atimely manner and at an affordable rate. This left our customers taking somevery high risks. If a worker, working on your home is not properly licensed forthe work they are completing, they can’t be properly insured! If they were tocause damage to your property, or hurt themselves on the job it leaves you wideopen with a ton of RISK!! What we were finding is a “handyman” cannot do a jobmore than $500, however LICENSED contractors were not wanting to look at orconsider jobs less than $5-10k. Thismotivated us to make moves to fill this need in our community.
In February of 2023 we obtained our General B Contractors LicenseThrough the CSLB (California State Licensing Board). We are committed tofilling the needs of the community keeping a low minimum and focus on thesmaller jobs and home upgrades. Some of the larger projects we have taken onthis year include, fabricating and installing free standing awnings, sewerreplacement, recessed lighting installs, flooring projects, water servicereplacement, Exterior Dry-rot repair/replacement, bathroom upgrades & flippingrentals for property owners.
Upon obtaining our General B you may have noticed a companyname change, though we are incorporated as McCray’s Handyman, Inc. We filed aDBA, McCray and Sons Home Services and our oldest son William, joined the team!
Throughout the year we have focused on training,organization and streamlining of processes. We have invested in new equipmentsuch as post augers, jackhammers, dump trailer and 3 story scaffolding toensure we have the right tools for the right job. Masons truck was upgraded toa full-size F150, outfitted with tool boxes and a rack.
Thanks to all our amazing customers and their commitment to support us and share their experiences, We were awarded 2023 NEIGHBORHOODFAVORITE from NEXTDOOR and were also awarded 2023 SUPER PRO Status (4thconsecutive year).
In November 2023 we added Crystal to our team to assist Jennifer with the daily duties of the office.
We are thrilled with our accomplishments in 2023 and can’t wait to explore the possibilities of 2024.
